About and Contact Marie French

Make marks came from hitting silver with various stamps,  nails, rocks and other miscellany that I would pick up and find. And of course…I guess I have always been making marks in some shape or form. My artwork is all about making marks, and the classes I teach are always trying to share new ways to look at situations, places, people and things. We all make marks…sometimes good…sometimes… well not so good.

I have been painting, stamping silver, scratching and marking pottery, forming and marking plaster, and printing, and dying fabrics for as long as I can remember. It is just something I can’t stop doing.

So while I work in sales selling background screening services, talent management services, and other HR products I am doodling a design, and marking on paper between calls prepping for some paintings during the night, and early morning hours.I usually wake up at 3am-4am and paint, write, and otherwise create.

I am trying to teach myself photoshop and illustrator…The learning is slow, but I am sticking with it until I get it. But that also means I cannot at this point work in repeat. So I sell my work outright and let you recolor it , resize it, tweak it, or otherwise repeat it to your hearts content. I will continue to make art everyday and hope that you might find some of my art and ideas to your liking…

All of my work is hand painted, in inks, watercolors, acrylics, or hand block printed. I have some samples of my work painted on fabric, I have photos of faux paintings I have done, as well as the pottery, jewelry, and other items I have designed….so ask and I will gladly forward you the pictures. I mainly paint now and when that bug bites to make something, I will be off in my corner making the idea come alive.

I am currently working in far west Texas amongst the dust devils, road runners and Javelina. It is truly a place of creative power. I have been more productive here than in anytime in my life. I have written and published a book with Northlight publishers available on Amazon”Inspirito; Jewlery for the mind body and soul. and contributed to three more books. I have also written and published 24 articles in various publications.

In designing and painting I hope to bring a small ounce of beauty into the world, to share beauty , and to hopefully share an organic hug of artwork to each and every person who makes their way to this blog/portfolio.
